Chapter 10 · 10.8
Working with the Nextcloud desktop app (synchronisation)
With the free synchronisation app Nextcloud Files, your files from WebOké Nextcloud appear in an ordinary folder on your computer. Whatever you change in that folder automatically goes to your Nextcloud, and the other way round. This way, you can also access your files without an internet connection.

Downloading
| Computer | System requirements according to Nextcloud | Download |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer) or Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows |
| Mac | macOS 13 or newer | macOS |
| Linux | 64-bit (x86_64), as AppImage | Linux (AppImage) |
Our buttons always point to the latest version. For older Macs (macOS 11 or 12), Nextcloud offers an older version at nextcloud.com/install.
Installing and logging in
- Install the app and start it.
- Choose to log in and enter the address of your Nextcloud, for example https://demo.webokecloud.nl.
- Your browser opens the login screen of your WebOké Nextcloud. Log in, enter the two-step verification code if needed, and grant the app access.
- Choose which folders you want on your computer and where the folder should go.

Synchronisation and Nextcloud Office together
- If you double-click a docx, xlsx or pptx file in the Nextcloud folder, it opens in the programme associated with that file type. This could be Nextcloud Office, but also Word or LibreOffice.
- When you save, the synchronisation app puts the file into your Nextcloud. However, you're then working alone: colleagues only see your changes after saving.
- Want to work on a file together with colleagues at the same time? Open it in the browser or via your connected Nextcloud in Nextcloud Office. See Working together with colleagues in the browser and the program.
Please note: do you see a file in your folder with "conflict" in the name? Then the file was changed in two places at the same time. Check which version you want to keep and delete the other one. Read more about saving and synchronisation issues in Saving or syncing isn't working.
Tip: don't need all your files on your computer? In the app, only enable the folders you actually use. That saves space on your disk.
