Chapter 12 · 12.4
Saving or syncing isn't working
Euro-Office automatically saves your work to your WebOké Nextcloud (see Saving: how autosave works). If something does go wrong with saving or syncing, here's what to do.
"Connection is lost" or "The document could not be saved"
If your internet drops for a moment, Euro-Office shows Connection is lost and tries to reconnect automatically. As soon as the connection is back, you'll see Connection is restored and you can carry on working.
Do you see The document could not be saved or An error has occurred while saving the file? Then do this:
- Don't close the tab straight away.
- Save a backup copy to your computer: choose File and Download as. With the The document could not be saved message, Euro-Office will itself ask you to download the document when you click OK.
- Check your internet connection, for example wifi or VPN.
- Reload the page and check whether your changes are there. If they're missing, upload your backup copy to Nextcloud.
Does this happen often? Then get in touch with support and mention the time and the file name. See When you contact support.
You still see the old version when downloading or on your computer
Euro-Office saves your changes straight away, but the file in Nextcloud is only fully updated once everyone has closed the document. As long as you or a colleague still has it open, a download or the sync app on your computer may still show the previous version.
- Close the document. Also ask any colleagues who still have it open to close it.
- Wait a moment and refresh Nextcloud.
- Download the file again, or wait for the sync app to fetch the new file.
"The file version has changed. The page will be reloaded."
The file has changed outside Euro-Office while you had it open. For example, because someone uploaded a new version, restored an older version, or edited the file on a computer via the sync app. Click OK and let the page reload. If the page gets stuck, close the tab, wait half a minute, and open the file again.
The file is locked or being edited in another app
Do you see The file is being edited in another app. You can continue editing and save as a copy.? Then someone has the file open in another program, for example Word or LibreOffice via the sync app.
- Check whether you or a colleague still has the file open in another program or another tab. Close it there and wait a minute.
- Need to carry on right now? Keep working and then choose File and Save copy as. Merge the changes later, for example with Documenten vergelijken.
- Does the file stay locked even though no one has it open? Then get in touch with support. We can release a stuck lock.
A file with "conflicted copy" in the name
Are you editing a file on your computer via Nextcloud sync while someone else is editing it at the same time in Euro-Office? Then the sync app may create a second file with conflicted copy in the name. This contains your changes. Compare the two files, take over what you need, and then delete the copy.
You can read more about this in Je ziet je wijzigingen niet als je het bestand downloadt of op je computer opent.
Tip: here's how to avoid most problems: only work on a shared file in Euro-Office in the browser, not at the same time in a program on your computer. You can read more about the sync app in Working with the Nextcloud desktop app (synchronisation).
Lost something?
Nextcloud automatically keeps older versions of your files. If you've lost something, you can restore an earlier version. See Versiegeschiedenis: een oudere versie terugzetten.
